Brock UMC has many Sunday Service activities that enable people to connect to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Our volunteers help make these worship experiences possible. We maintain a volunteer schedule online but also allow volunteers to sign-up in the volunteer binder. There are several opportunities for service depending on the volunteer’s skills and gifts.
Greeter Usher – Extending a warm welcome to all who are arriving to worship with us is vitally important to Brock UMC’s tradition of gracious hospitality. As a greeter, your smiling face and warm welcome to each guest, makes a long-lasting first-impression and extends the love of Christ to all.
As an usher, you will offer guests bulletins and children’s packets, assist with seating, provide direction to the nursery, fellowship hall, or Sunday School classes, as well as assist with the collection of tithes and offering. As a greeter/usher, please arrive 15 minutes prior to worship.
Liturgist – As a liturgist, you will read the selected scripture for the week, and lead the congregation in the affirmation of faith. The weekly readings are provided to you in advance.
Children’s Church – Children are always welcome in worship at Brock UMC. Children’s Church is offered following Children’s Time (ages 3-2nd grade). Parents volunteer to assist Ms. Kaycie and lead children’s church on a rotational basis. Your participation in this part of our children’s ministry is vitally important to our children. Please sign up for a place on the rotation today! (Ministry Safe certification is required. Please see Cheryl for details.)
Acolyte – All children in grades 2-5 are invited to participate in our Acolyte Ministry. If your child missed the October training opportunities, please contact Pastor Meg about scheduling an acolyte training session.
Worship/Media – Could your computer skills be of service in worship? Yes, absolutely! We welcome those of you who are willing to give a couple hours of your time each month to operate the computer during worship. The program is simple to learn and easy to operate. Contact Cheryl to schedule a quick tutorial and to be added to the worship media team.
Worship/Music – God blesses each of us with wonderful gifts—are yours in music? Our music ministry would welcome you to join them at either or both worship services. Vocals, piano, keyboard, guitar, handbells, wind or string instruments, percussion—yes, you are invited to participate in our music ministry here at Brock UMC! Let us know how you would like to use your musical gifts to honor and praise God in worship.
Office Volunteers – For a couple of hours each week, your assistance is needed to assemble bulletins, prepare children’s packets, assist with special mailings, organize special worship materials, or assist with other administrative projects. Consider how you might use your skills to serve in this way.
Offering Counters – You are volunteering to count the tithes and offerings. You may count on Sunday immediately following the Sunday worship services. OR You may count on Monday morning. Monday counting requires only one volunteer as the office assistant can fill the role of the other un-related individual. Please indicate whether you are volunteering to count on Sunday or Monday. Counting of offering will be done by two un-related individuals per UMC Book of Discipline.
Holy Communion Helpers – Holy Communion is served during worship on the first Sunday of each month, as well as during special worship services (Christmas Eve, Easter, World Communion Sunday, etc.). You and your family are invited to volunteer on quarterly basis, to prepare and set-up the communion bread and juice, and to remove them following worship. We ask that you provide the bread (Hawaiian loaf) and juice (Welch’s Grape), as well as make sure the communion cloths are cleaned and ready for use. Thank you for assisting in this important part of our worship!
Youth Group Meal Sign-Up – Providing dinner for Youth Group on Sunday evenings. Please plan on feeding between 10-12 people and have the meal ready to serve at 5:00pm.
