Reverend Paul Judd experienced a diverse journey in preparation for where he is now. He grew up, attended school and worked in Arlington, Texas through much of his life. A change in his wife’s career moved him to northern Illinois, where he responded to God’s call to ministry. He has served smaller, rural churches and larger ones such as Sterling First UMC and DeKalb First UMC. As a spiritual director and instructor, he has shared in many workshops, retreats and classes.
In Paul’s diverse journey has served a tour in the United States Marine Corps, ten years in law enforcement, eight years as a public school teacher and 12 years as a United Methodist Pastor. Paul is an ordained elder, in full connection, in the Northern Illinois Conference. Paul has earned a Master in Public Administration [MPA] from UT-Arlington, a Master of Arts in Teaching [MAT], and a Masters of Divinity [MDiv} from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
Full of faith and hope in the Holy Spirit, pastor Paul has been described as one who taught the meaning of grace through his living it and more recently one who leads from behind, encouraging the church body to live out its call to mission and ministry.
Paul loves camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting and basically anything placing him in God’s creation. Paul also loves to BBQ, cook and bake bread. He is Scouting Ministry Specialist and seems to find Boy Scouts to connect with where ever he goes. Paul has been married to the love of his life, Elizabeth, for thirty-two years. They have three grown children, and one grandson who has unabashedly stolen his heart.
